Following are some of my favorite comedy Anime I watched, and the ones I recommend anyone looking for a comedy Anime to watch. These are personal recommendations based on the Anime I watched, so some known comedy Anime didn’t make it to this list. The main criteria for adding any Anime to this list is that I find it actually very funny, and that I believe that many other people would find it that way too. I will try to add more Anime to the list once I watch more Anime as well. :)
Quickly go to:-
- D-Frag! (D-Fragments!)
- Love Lab
- Yuru Yuri
- Ichigo Mashimaro (Strawberry Mashimaro)
- Ouran Highschool Host Club
- School Rumble
- Girls Und Panzer
- SKET Dance
- Sakamoto Desu Ka?
- Monia’s Best Comedy Anime Recommendations List Chart
A “delinquent” guy wishes to become the strongest in his school, only to be forced to join Game Development Club by a bunch of girls. That’s pretty much it for the story! D-Frag! is one of the best comedy that aired in 2014, one I totally recommend to anyone who likes cute & funny anime. Even if you are not into school anime.
It is not a coincidence that I placed this Anime on the top of this list, because it is probably my favorite comedy Anime ever :3
- Has many cute chibi moments.
- The comedy in it is the random type.
Watching Tip:- Watch the first 2 episodes to see if D-Frag! is for you~
Genres:- Comedy, Game, School, Seinen.
When you are in a All girls school, you don’t get to interact with boys much, and so you would want to know how to do that. That’s what Natsuo Maki, the revered student council president of Fujisaki High school wants, and so she practices that on her own, only for the tomboy girl, Riko Kurahashi, to walks in on her while Maki was practicing kissing on a body pillow.
For some reasons, Maki ends up thinking that Riko is popular among boys, and so wants Riko to teach her about love, which starts Love Lab, a secret club where Maki learns about that.
- Good Anime if you are bored, very fun.
- Has no yuri if you are wondering about this.
- The multiple misunderstandings between the characters are all well done.
Genres:- Comedy, Romance, School
Buy Love Lab
Two cute girls take over the tea ceremony club, and then use it to start The Amusement club. Which is about doing whatever they want. YuruYuri Happy Go Lily may feel like another cute girls doing cute things anime, but it does things different than other anime like that.
In general, YuruYuri is a good anime for those who watch anime for enjoyment, and the very good & funny characters in this anime means that those who watch anime for the characters won’t be disappointed either.
- Contains mild Yuri, so it is good even if you are not into Yuri
- Has 3 seasons, and it keeps up the quality thorough them.
- Like many of the Anime in this list, Yuru Yuri may look like a typical cute girls doing great things at first, but the first 2-3 episodes will tell you how different it is.
Watching Tip:- Watch the first 3 episodes to see if it is for you~
Genres:- Comedy, School, Shoujo Ai, Slice of Life
In Ichigo Mashimaro, we follow the life of 4 cute little girls doing cute things in a comedic way. It is very similar to Yuru Yuri, but with a different kind of humor, plus an adult girl. One of the girls is very similar to Kyouko too. I highly recommend you watch episode 0 to see if this Anime is for you.
One of the reasons I didn’t recommend this to many people is because I personally think Yuru Yuri does it better. But I may do something about this in the future :>
Genres:- Comedy, Slice of Life
Buy Ichigo Mashimaro
A commoner girl goes to a school built for the rich & prestigious folk. One day, that girl stumbles upon a club aimed for entertaining girls, and ends up being indebted to that club, so she has to serve that club until she fully paid her debt, this leads her to get to know & interact with the various males members of the club, in a very funny shoujo setting.
I definitely recommend you to watch this anime if you are into romance-comedy, comedy or Shoujo in general. The good thing is, even those who are not into shoujo can like it too.
Watching Tip:- Watch the first episodes, and you will know why it is such a funny Anime.
Genres:- Comedy, Harem, Romance, School, Shoujo
Buy Ouran Highschool Host Club
School Rumble revolves around the daily lives of the students of Class 2-C at the fictional Yagami High School, along with their friends and families (Wikipedia ). Tenma Tsukamoto, the protagonist, likes Oji Karasuma. While Kenji Harima, the school delinquent, likes Tenma. Tenma wants to confess her feelings to Karasuma, and struggles to do so, while Kenji wants to do the same to Tenma. And so the High school romance starts.
School Rumble is good if you want an Anime with good characters interactions, especially giving the variety of characters it has. Something you recommend to anyone who likes comedy.
Watching Tip:- Watch the 3-4 episodes to see if it is for you~
Genres:- Comedy, Romance, School, Shounen.

What if driving tanks & fighting with them against other team became a sport that people practice and have clubs for in school? This is what is happening in Girls und panzer. Where 5 cute girl fight to win the Tankery (Sensha-do) tournament.
Girls und panzer is a very funny anime to watch, with an amusing plot that will satisfy you if you are into sports anime. Some people may stay away from it thinking it is just another Cute Girls Doing Cute Things anime with nothing new in it, but they are wrong, while it is full of cute girls, Girls und panzer doesn’t fully depend on that to be a good anime.
Girls und panzer is one more anime I recommend to those who want to watch anime for the enjoyment of it. It is way beyond being a cute Anime, especially with some of the hilarious strategies in it. ^^
Watching Tip:- Watch the first 3 episodes to see if it is for you~
Genres:- Military, School
Buy Girlz und Panzer
Sket Dance is about the Assistance club (or Sket Brigade), where the 3 main characters, Fujisaki Yuusuke, Usui Kazuyoshi, and Onizuka Hime, take requests to help students with their problems. And so we are presented with a wide variety of characters that way. Many of these characters are recurrent, so you if you liked a certain character, rest assured you are going to see it in a matter of time. For that reason, Sket Dance is not very episodic Anime in my opinion.
Sket Dance is the longest Anime in this list, and it takes some time to build up the settings for some people. And so I advise you to be patient with it
I heard people call it “Gintama in school settings”, but I didn’t watch Gintama yet to judge by myself. But I totally recommend it in case you are a Gintama fan, for a reason you will now once you finish it.
- Has nothing to do with dancing.
Watching Tip:- Watch about 5-10 episodes before you decide if it is good, as Sket Dance takes some time to introduce new characters.
Genres:- Comedy, School, Shounen
Sakamoto-kun, a first year high school student, who caught attention of everybody in his school, including girls. Because he is the cool, cooler & coolest guy. Sakamoto is never flustered by anything that happens to him, including the teasing of his classmates, which is another view of the very confident character type that’s worth watching.
Watching Tip:- The first episode is more than enough to know if Sakamoto Desu Ka? is good for you~
Genres:- Comedy, School, Seinen

Though it is only his first day in high school, his attractiveness, intelligence, and charm already has the girls swooning and the guys fuming with jealousy. No one seems able to derail him, as all attempts at tripping him up are quickly foiled. His sangfroid is indomitable, his wits peerless. |Imagine a world where humanity lives on enormous carrier ships. In Girls und Panzer, not only do these community ships support entire towns, they also host military-themed sports events that use tanks. Popular among high school girls, tankery, as the sport is known, claims to make young women strong, graceful, and popular with boys.
Despite this, not every girl likes tankery. Miho Nishizumi comes from a long line of famous tankery practitioners, but a traumatic event drove her to abandon the sport. She even goes as far as to transfer to Oarai High School because it has no tankery team. Unfortunately, Miho joins the student body just as they’re about to resurrect the sport. Because she’s the only girl in the entire high school with prior tankery experience, the student council forces her to join the team. Can Miho’s new friends and teammates help her overcome her traumatic past experiences and go on to win the national tankery championships?

|At Kaimei High School, the Living Assistance Club (aka the Sket Brigade) was organized to help students with problems big or small. Most of the time, though, they hang out in their club room, bored, with only a few trivial problems floating in every once in a while. In spite of this, they still throw all their energy into solving these worries.
