Do we really need a 32-inches Cintiq? Is it really too big?

Let’s Discuss Whether The 32-Inch Wacom Cintiq Pro Is Worth It

In mid-2017, Wacom announced they were going to release a 24-inches & 32-inches Cintiq Pro models. The models are expected to come this year. The date is not certain, as Wacom said in a Tweet here (11 January 2018):-

In this post, I will speculate whether the upcoming 32-inches. Whether it’s too much for artists.

I will update this post a while after Wacom release the new model.

The 24-Inches Size Is Okay

While the Cintiq 24-inches Cintiq is certainly usable, since Wacom already had its Cintiq 24HD in the past (although it was really heavy). So I won’t talk about that size here.

I haven’t tried the 32-inches, as it’s not even out in the market for most people to try. I imagine it to be for the artist who want to work while standing up, that way, the artist could reach anywhere in the screen. The size of it is similar to the size of physical drawing canvases, as that what Wacom is aiming for?

Possibly A Niche Size?

There’s another theory about the new size I thought of lately. Since it pretty much reminds me when Wacom released an extra-large Intuos 4. That was a niche size only certain people used. Wacom never updated that size after that. That could be the case with the 32-inches model, a niche size for certain artists.

Bigger Is Better?

From the trend of their last Wacom maybe think that bigger is better. Even if the 32- inch worked for many artists, will they release a 40-inches Cintiq in the future? I think the law of diminishing return will work its magic eventually. Either that or artists will come up with new ways to work with their devices, like to use them like a canvas & hang them on the wall, who knows~

And Finally

We will have to wait until the 32-inches Cintiq Pro to come out to see what artists think about it. People thought the Cintiq 27QHD was big, only for them to get used to it eventually. Maybe the same thing is going to happen with this model too.

I am curious to know how my speculations will work in the future. If you have any comments, please leave them in the comments below.

I am an anime artist, and huge fan of digital art. I love drawing with pencils too. But I rarely do that anymore nowadays. Since some aspects of digital art can be tricky, I try my best to explain the concepts as easily as possible.

  1. Hey.
    I personally use Intuos Comic
I’m not a cool artist (But I’m trying to be like that.) My friend uses a model to a friend and it’s a lot bigger.I do not really say the exact name, I do not remember, but it was very convenient for me to use! So I think that the 32-inch graphics tablet is cool, but very expensive!
