Dell Ultrasharp U2415 Review In Few Words (Mini Review)
Dell Ultrasharp U2415 is a great monitor with a good price. It has a resolution that is a bit higher than 1080p (1980 X 1200), and supports features like Display Port daisy chain, which allows you to connect multiple monitors using the same DisplayPort port. It is also MHL-certified, meaning you can hook it to your Smartphone & have it charged at the same time. It has a flexible stand that allows you to adjust it in variety of ways, including having it in portrait mode. And if that’s not enough, its VESA 100 mount allows you to attach it to an arm, which gives you more flexibility.
The display quality is great, making it suitable for many kind of usages, from playing games to watching movies. It is also suitable for photo-editing as well. There are only two things I have against it, first there is a chance of backlight bleeding, but that’s something many LCD monitors can suffer from. Second, while the display itself is great, Dell support is not exactly that. But hopefully you won’t have to deal with it in case you decided to get this monitor.

Dell Ultrasharp U2415:- An Overview
Dell Ultrasharp U2415 is LCD with LED backlight, some people think that LED is a new technology altogether, when in fact it is just a way to illuminate the screen while making the monitor itself thin. While it has a beautiful design, with the very thin bezel that makes it elegant, it also has practical features like a security lock on its back, which helps in case you want to use it in office environment.
Since Dell Ultrasharp U2415 uses IPS panel, it has a great picture quality, making it suitable for many kind of uses, from watching movies to editing spreadsheets. It is also suitable for tasks like video & photo-editing as well.

Supported Display Ports
At the bottom of it, Dell Ultrasharp U2415 has two HDMI ports to connect up to two device with it. It also has one DisplayPort & one mini DisplayPort for that as well. If your computer has a DisplayPort, You are likely going to use the mini DisplayPort port, as Dell Ultrasharp U2415 comes with a cable for that. There is also a DisplayPort out, which I will talk about shortly.

Dell Ultrasharp U2415 supports DisplayPort daisy chain, a feature that allows you to connect multiple monitors to your computer using one DisplayPort only. You simple connect the first monitor to your computer, then connect the second display to the DisplayPort out port on your first monitor. A third monitor would connect to the second monitor the same way, and so on. The number of supported monitors depends on the resolution used on the monitors.
As you may have noticed, Dell Ultrasharp U2415 has no DVI & VGA ports at its button, so in case your computer only supports one of these ports, you will need some sort of adapter to connect it to your computer.
Other ports
There are about 5 USB ports on Dell Ultrasharp U2415, 4 below the monitor next to the other ports, and one behind the monitor. To use these ports, you need to connect your monitor to one of the USB ports on your computer. For some reason, Dell recommends that you use two of these ports for wireless USB devices. If we are to take that advice, then you will have 3 USB ports to use for your keyboard, mouse & other devices.
While Dell Ultrasharp U2415 doesn’t have speakers, there is audio-out where you can connect external speakers, or you can attach a sound bar to it, which saves you some space on your desk. For one, Dell Ultrasharp U2415 supports Dell AC511 USB Wired SoundBar, which you can find in the following Amazon links:-
MHL Support
Before I get to the other aspects of Dell Ultrasharp U2415, there is one more thing to say about the HDMI ports in this monitor:- It is MHL certified. MHL stands for Mobile-High Definition Link, so if you have a mobile or device that supports that feature, you can connect your phone to Dell Ultrasharp U2415 & use it and use it as an external monitor, while charging your phone at the same time.
Flexible & Adjustable Stand
Just like many of the monitors at this price range, Dell Ultrasharp U2415 comes with a stand that can be adjusted in variety of ways. It can be tilted forward by 5° backward by 21°. And swiveled by 45° in both direction.
The feature that is truly worth of mention is how it allows you to rotate the screen so that you could use it in portrait mode, a useful mode for reading documents or writing documents, as well as coding. While you can use any monitor in that mode even if the stand doesn’t allow you to rotate the display itself. Having this built-in in the stand is pretty much convenient.
Ergotron Arm Support
In case your don’t want to have your Dell Ultrasharp U2415 on your desk, or in case you desire more flexibility, you can remove the stand & use the VESA 100 mount to mount an arm with it. Which is a more flexible option, the following Ergotron arms both support VESA 100 mounts, which you can kindly find in the following Amazon links:-

Possible Backlight Bleeding Problem
In case you are unlucky, your Dell Ultrasharp U2415 could have some backlight bleeding, a problem where the backlight is visible on the edge of the screen, this bleeding can affect the colors in the areas adjacent to it. This problem may occur in dim light condition, so you may not notice it in case you don’t work in such conditions.
And Finally
This is a great monitor, but as long you won’t have to deal with Dell’s support, which could be very bad. But for the price of this monitor, you will get an excellent monitor to use for almost anything you want, but be aware of any backlight bleeding this monitor may have once you receive it.
I hope you liked my Dell Ultrasharp U2415 review, and see you again in another review. ^^
